PIGEON (SHANGHAI) CO., LTD. has been conducting tree-planting activities in the desert since 2023 as one of the initiatives for “A comfortable world where babies are not troubled by environmental risks” in our vision of a baby-friendly future.

Description of Activities

This activity is planting shrubs (Haloxylon ammodendron*) of the family Acanthaceae in the Alashan Desert in Northern China and Inner Mongolia.
We planted 5,000 trees in September and October 2023 and 20,000 trees in April 2024 as part of a sales promotion campaign for our new skin care product, Peach Leaf Cream. In total, we planted 25,000 trees and are working to green more than 312,000 square meters of desert.

*Haloxylon ammodendron, called succaul in Japanese, is a drought- and salt-tolerant plant that grows to a height of 1 to 8 meters with many branches in sandy or clay soil in the deserts of Central Asia.

Purpose and Effects of Tree Planting Activities

Through tree planting activities, we aim to conserve ecosystems and develop local economies, among other things.
By promoting tree planting in areas with fragile ecosystems on the fringes of deserts, we will prevent further expansion of deserts and strengthen ecological barriers. In cooperation with farmers and pastoralists in the areas where tree planting will take place, we will also promote the sustainable development of the local economy, starting with technical training and the provision of free seedlings.

We will continue these activities to create an environment for the next generation and to coexist with local communities.
