Making Packaging with More Concern for the Environment (Japan-Pigeon Corporation)
2025.01.10
To leave a rich Earth for the future of babies born tomorrow, Pigeon Corporation is working to reduce its environmental impact based on the medium- to long-term targets in the Pigeon Green Action Plan.
In 2024, when we revised our Petite Straw Bottle, which is sold in Japan, we took the opportunity to redesign its packaging as well to reduce the amount of plastic used in our packaging.

The previous Petite Straw Bottle packaging used both paper and plastic, but the revised package uses only paper, with no plastic at all. This amounts to a 14g reduction in plastic packaging per unit. The new package design also saves on paper by covering only part of the product rather than enclosing it completely.
What’s more, the user’s guide for the product is no longer included in the package in print form. Instead, it is available on a website that can be accessed via 2-dimensional barcode.

“This is the first time Pigeon Corporation has created packaging that does not entirely enclose a product that makes direct contact with children’s mouths,” said the new Petite Straw Bottle packaging designer. “We experimented with many ways to minimize the amount of paper used without giving any cause for hygienic concerns, all while conveying the product’s appeal. We hope this project will become a starting point for changing what has been considered ‘standard’ in the past.”
We will continue striving to reduce our environmental impact through initiatives like this.
