Financial support for families with preterm infants: "Pigeon Preterm Infant Health Insurance" (China)

Pigeon (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. (PSH) has partnered with Ping An Insurance Company of China, Ltd. to establish Pigeon Preterm Infant Health Insurance. With this initiative, PSH has helped to ease anxieties on the financial front for the families of babies bravely undergoing treatment.

Background

More than 10 million babies are born every year in China, and some 10%¹ are considered “low birthweight,” weighing less than 2,500 grams at birth.²

Despite advances in life-saving neonatal care for low birthweight children, many families in China cannot access such care for economic reasons.

Support Action

In November 2018, PSH partnered with Ping An Insurance Company of China, Ltd. to establish Pigeon Preterm Infant Health Insurance. Preterm infant health insurance is designed to lessen the financial burden of long-term hospital stays and advanced neonatal care. (Eligible customers are those who secure coverage by the 16th week of pregnancy.)

PSH has not only established preterm infant health insurance, but also donated to allow mothers-to-be to obtain coverage at no charge. With this donation, PSH has helped to ease anxieties on the financial front for the families of babies bravely undergoing treatment.

We will continue to support preterm babies and their families so that babies can grow up healthy.
