Focusing on the future of tomorrow's babies
Promoting Sustainability Initiatives
The Sustainability Committee was established in December 2020 to further deepen the ESG management of the Pigeon Group (hereinafter referred to as “the Group”) from a medium- to long-term perspective. The committee is chaired by me (Head of Global Head Office) and includes the general managers of the business divisions that lead each business (Japan, China, Singapore, and Lansinoh) and the general manager of the Corporate Strategy Division as members. The committee has established policies and long-term goals related to sustainability issues (social and environmental) concerning our group and is working on them.
The Group, which promotes its business by always keeping a true eye on babies, aims to achieve sustainable growth as a company, not only by solving problems related to pregnancy, childbirth, and childcare, but also by thinking about the future of tomorrow's babies and helping to solve global environmental and social issues.
With this in mind, the Sustainability Committee, in addition to setting and reviewing material issues, discusses what issues the Group should address in order to leave a rich earth for the future of babies, and establishes mid- to long-term environmental goals to realize a “Decarbonization,” a “Circular society,” and a “Coexistence with nature. In December 2022, we formulated the “Pigeon Green Action Plan,” a set of mid- to long-term environmental goals aimed at realizing a “decarbonized,” “recycling,” and “nature-harmonious” society.
At the Sustainability Committee meetings held in 2023 and 2024, we confirmed the progress of the “Pigeon Green Action Plan” and discussed the signing of the United Nations Global Compact, the formulation of a human rights policy, and the deepening of initiatives related to respect for human rights.
At the same time, we reaffirm the importance of understanding and empathy within the company and throughout the supply chain, because it is people who implement new products and services and initiatives that lead to solutions to social issues. In addition to our efforts to address environmental issues, we will focus on identifying and addressing issues through human rights due diligence and improving employee engagement. The members of the Sustainability Committee will lead the entire Group in our efforts to realize our purpose, “We want to make the world more baby-friendly by furthering our commitment to understanding and addressing babies’ unique needs.
